HI, I'M ASHLEE

Owner of Ezer (ay-zer),

a Certified Doula, Lactation Consultant,

and the one who will never leave the room.

I serve, support, and advocate for women like you throughout their prenatal, birth, and postpartum periods.

“As a first-time mom, there were two things that I was certain of. First, that I knew absolutely nothing about the journey ahead, and second, that there wasn’t a professional that I trusted more than Ashlee to be by my side to walk me through it all."

Birth can be a lot of things: hard, beautiful, and even ugly.  It's perfectly imperfect.

But most importantly, it's yours! My heart for birth is to provide you with well-rounded information and a perspective that will empower you to make informed decisions during this season of life.

If you have a partner, I want them to join us on this journey. I will provide them with their own tools so that they too can feel empowered and equipped in the birthing space.

About Me
My journey to becoming a doula has by no means been linear. According to my resume, I've been a sales associate, credentialing assistant, a customer success manager, and most often an actor.  Whether I'm helping a shopper find the perfect pair of shoes, or offering an audience member a 2.5-hour escape during a play or musical, my heart is to serve.

Beyond that, you may find me snuggled up reading a book, enjoying a cup of coffee, or my favorite, under the covers taking a nap.
(The nap, of course, is so I'm refreshed when you call ;).

If we work together, you'll quickly see that I'm just as chill as that description sounds.
& I hope that's the case.

Jessica Atherholt

Jessica has been assisting women through pregnancy, labor and birth for seventeen years as a birth educator, labor assistant, and for twelve years, as a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife.) She loves walking women through the sacred transition into motherhood and strives to be a calming, supportive advocate in the birth room.

When not welcoming humans into the world, you'll find Jessica in her garden, spending time with loved ones, traveling, or immersed in some art form (stage, screen, pottery and painting are a few favorites.)

Kylie Jo Smith

I'm a wife, mother, researcher, experienced birth & postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and foodie. I've enjoyed growing as an artist and educator, while also exploring the growing need of support for women during one of the most transformative seasons of their lives.

After receiving doula accreditation and training in the Kansas City, MO area, I started my practice as a doula at a rural critical-access hospital. In that season, I developed the only doula-led hospital-based birth support program in northwest Kansas, which is still in operation today. When I want to really unwind & recharge, I rely on acoustic music, a good laugh...and home-baked bread and butter.

FAQs
  • How often can I reach out to you with questions throughout my pregnancy?
The short answer is anytime! I want you to feel like you have access to me and I make it my business to respond in a timely manner.
  • Do you serve outside of Pennsylvania?
Yes! While my home base is Lancaster County and the surrounding areas, I have and will serve clients that live in other states.
  • At what point do I call you when I go into labor?
WHENEVER YOU WANT! When you call my first question will be, "Are you ready for some support?" If the answer is yes, I'll pack my bag, take a shower (lol), and head your way.
  • What happens if I go into labor and you're unavailable or out of town?
While I do my best to plan my schedule in a way that ensures my presence; anything can happen in birth. Ezer has two wonderful backup doulas that you will meet during your prenatal visits. These wonderful women are more than capable of standing in for me until I can get to you.
